Rakuten Group Inc. wins Silver Telly Award for “Rakuten Culture Experience” video

Ever wondered what makes Rakuten’s workplace culture so unique? Rakuten’s award-winning “Rakuten Culture Experience” video takes viewers behind the scenes to offer a glimpse into the personal and professional lives of its team members. This fresh perspective recently earned Rakuten Group a Silver Telly Award in the “Workplace Culture — Non-Broadcast” category.

Announced on May 21, 2024, the Telly Awards recognized Rakuten for its innovative approach to showcasing workplace culture through the power of storytelling. With “Collaborate, Innovate, Empower” as its theme, the video takes a different approach from traditional recruitment and corporate branding videos, focusing on the individual stories of Rakuten employees — highlighting not just their daily lives but their passions and values as well.

The feature follows a typical day in Tokyo for four Rakutenians, from their morning routines and bike commutes to work projects and personal hobbies, offering a genuine snapshot of the diverse and dynamic team that make up Rakuten in Japan.

“I’m thrilled that our Rakuten Culture Experience video has been recognized with a Telly Award,” said Mirai Olausson, Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, Rakuten Group’s Corporate Culture Division. “We’ve always strived to be at the forefront of Employer Branding in Japan, and by taking a storytelling approach with this video, we aimed to authentically showcase the genuine culture at Rakuten through our people.”

This Silver Telly Award win is a reflection of Rakuten’s long-standing commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture where individuals can reach their fullest potential.

The Telly Awards, now in its 45th year, is a premier award honoring excellence in video and television across all screens. This year’s competition was a record breaking year with nearly 13,000 entries from across the globe, including top video and television content producers.
