Marie Kondo collaborates with The Container Store to launch new line of sustainable, Japanese-inspired products

By Marie Kondo, bestselling author, founder of KonMari Media, Inc., and Rakuten’s first ever “Joy Ambassador.”

I’m thrilled to introduce an exclusive collaboration that’s been in the works for quite some time: The Container Store x KonMari!

Marie Kondo worked closely with The Container Store for over a year to design organizing essentials that people can use throughout their space.

The founding principle of the KonMari Method™ is to keep only the items that spark joy for you – and then give them a home. When I was looking to develop products for people to organize these items, I wanted a sustainable line with joyful touches that would deliver the versatility and expertise The Container Store is famous for.

I worked closely with their team for over a year to design organizing essentials that you can use throughout your space – from the kitchen and closet to the office and playroom. I am so proud of what we have created together and thrilled that we were able to infuse aspects of my Japanese heritage.

The Hikidashi Storage Boxes are among my favorites in the collaboration. “Hikidashi” means drawer in Japanese, and these boxes and lids enable you to create a drawer where there wasn’t one before! Made from sturdy recycled paper, they’re perfect for organizing your clothes, accessories and treasured items. They’re simple and beautiful – with a touch of whimsy – and I can’t wait to see them being used in homes everywhere.

Inspired by the latticework found in traditional Japanese room dividers, the “Shoji” collection is also remarkable. Made from bamboo – a naturally renewable resource – these organizers can be used to store, sort and display your belongings. Much like the shoji that influenced their design, they’re both functional and elegant!

This collaboration marks our first big product partnership with another brand, and having a hand in the design process is a dream come true. I drew on my decades of tidying experience but also feedback from our community. I hope that this is the first of many collaborations with the extraordinary team of experts at The Container Store – and I hope that you use these items to make space in your life for what matters most.

The Container Store x KonMari collection is available online at konmari.com, online at containerstore.com and in The Container Store stores nationwide in the U.S.!
