Today at Rakuten Optimism 2019, a 4-day premier business event and festival hosted in Tokyo, Rakuten is sparking joy with a new partnership with Kondo and her company, KonMari Media, Inc.

The announcement was made on the main stage – in front of a full house at Pacifico Yokohama – by Rakuten founder and CEO, Mickey Mikitani, and Marie Kondo. Rakuten and KonMari Media plan to collaborate on entertainment content and other branded initiatives that will further popularize Ms. Kondo’s philosophy that tidying encourages people to cherish the things that spark joy in their lives.

The partnership also includes a specially-created role for Ms. Kondo at Rakuten. To champion an organizing culture for workplaces around the world, Marie Kondo will be appointed as Rakuten’s first “Joy Ambassador.”
