Rakuten Mobile takes home GLOMO Awards win at MWC22
Rakuten Mobile continued its winning ways at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, taking home a GLOMO award trophy for the second straight year in 2022. The annual GLOMO (Global Mobile) Awards is one of the most prestigious recognitions in telecom, celebrating the individuals and companies driving innovation and showcasing excellence in the rapidly growing mobile industry.

Rakuten Mobile won in the “Best Network Software Breakthrough” category, based on its use of Open RAN architecture during the set up and deployment of its nationwide 5G network across Japan.
The awards are judged by independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics and mobile operator representatives. Winning the award in consecutive years is a testament to Rakuten Mobile’s groundbreaking approach to maximizing the efficient use of technology and championing a more open, software-based future for the industry.
