The indoor soccer cup was held on January 13 in Gummersbach, Germany and sponsored by the Lukas Podolski Foundation, an initiative that offers disadvantaged kids opportunities and new perspectives through the power of sports.

Headlined once again by former German national star and current Vissel Kobe captain Lukas Podolski and supported by Rakuten, the event brought together a host of A-List German celebrities.

Poldi & Rakuten kick off new global partnership

Broadcast live on German national television, the cup also provided the perfect stage to announce a new collaboration between Rakuten and Podolski. At a press conference held before the event, Rakuten announced a new 4-year partnership with Podolski, appointing the wildly popular player as Global Brand Ambassador for the company.

The global partnership will see Poldi launch exciting new products and projects for fans and was kicked off by the launch of a Strassenkicker shop (Podolski’s streetwear fashion brand) on Rakuten’s German marketplace.

The cup, which was broadcast live on German national television, also provided the perfect stage to announce a new collaboration between Rakuten and Podolski.
